
Golden Waxy Cap - Hygrocybe flavescens
Convex cap that was bright yellowish-orange. Pale yellow, widely-spaced gills with short gills frequent. Gills were attached to the stem. The stem was yellow and fragile. It was approximately 4 cm tall.
Habitat: Growing in moss in a mixed forest.

Hygrophorus flavescens (Kauffman) Smith & Hesler syn. Cap 2.5-7cm across, broadly convex becoming flatter in age, sometimes with a depressed disc; margin incurved at first, sometimes upturned and wavy in mature specimens; bright orange, paler toward margin; sticky, smooth, then dry and shiny, margin striate when moist.
