Queen Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) PHOTO 1 of 2: I believe this to be a Queen but do know this species can be large anyway!, She stayed on this sunflower for a long time. At first I thought she was dead but on closer inspection there was slight movement. Out of curiosity I went back again this morning and she was on the same sun flower but I had a shock, which you will see in the next photo. I hope someone can help to identify the problem! "Bombus terrestris", the buff-tailed bumblebee or large earth bumblebee, is one of the most numerous bumblebee species in Europe. It is one of the main species used in greenhouse pollination, and so can be found in many countries and areas where it is not native, such as Tasmania.
