The Reptilian snake eel is an eel in the family Ophichthidae . It was described by David Starr Jordan and John Otterbein Snyder in 1904.

It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the Indo-Pacific. It dwells at a depth range of 1 to 35 m , and inhabits burrows formed in sandy areas in rocky and coral reefs.
