    1. Thanks, and yes, the oyster growers are surviving... as well as the Harlequins and the Surf Scoters. I love the bill of the male Surf Scoters and my aim is to get a good “head shot”. Something to work on in the new year! Gary Posted 6 years ago

The surf scoter is a large sea duck, which breeds in Canada and Alaska. It is placed in the subgenus "Melanitta", along with the velvet and white-winged scoters, distinct from the subgenus "Oidemia", black and common scoters.

Similar species: Ducks, Geese, Etc.
