Red squirrels are known to tap sugar maple trees to harvest the sugar in the sap. To do this, they actually bite into the tree trunk in order to puncture the xylem.<br />

        1. On one of my favorite hikes, there is a tree that always has red squirrels in it. They stop whatever they are doing to yell at me the entire time that I am near their tree ;P Posted 6 years ago
