Canopy view from tower 2, La Isla Escondida, Colombia
View from the 2nd bird watching treehouse of La Isla Escondida, which is 23m up. Tower 1 is 30m up yet has a more obstructed view, it is amidst other high trees. All of La Isla Escondida is 106 hectares big, at an elevation of 850m (Andes foothills). It's name means "Lost Island" as it is situated between two rivers: Rio Sucio en de Rio Guamúez.
Far in the background is a new national park in the making, I forgot the name and can't find it anymore. One of the guides with us, Brayan, is an expert in medicinal plants and has participated in several scientific expeditions to document these plants, and thereby giving authorities a reason to turn the area in a national park.
A much shorter description of La Isla Escondida: the most awesome wild place we've ever visited.
