JungleDragon now has 1,000 fungi species!
Dear friends of nature,
Last week we crossed the milestone of a 1,000 fungi species documented on our platform. A remarkable milestone, as fungi may be numerous the world over, they are overlooked by some. Furthermore, they can be incredibly hard to identify. Finding, capturing and identifying fungi is hard work and a deep skill that requires dedication.
The hard work over time by our community members has resulted in an incredible selection of fungi beauty and biodiversity. So let's explore a few ways to enjoy it. You can use the species browser to get to all of them and navigate several levels deep:

There's also a few lists maintained by members. I've personally been maintaining this list for 4 years now, it focuses mostly on the beauty aspect of fungi species:
@Morpheme has been maintaining an epic list of fungi in Washington state, a list so extensive that it has the worth of a scientific survey:
Likewise, @Christine has been doing the same for the eastern US:
As does @Lisa:
Whilst a 1,000 fungi species (as well as many not identified to the species level) are the work of many in the community spanning years, my vote for the spotlight goes to the three ladies above, for being such powerful contributors in this category. Contributions so large and powerful, that they inspire others to enjoy fungi on their own.
So let us enjoy and celebrate the mysterious world of fungi, and thank the people who share this beauty with us :)
