Jackrabbit Desert BIG These are as big as a large dog. Here is a link to more info on this rabbit. Over the past 7 years I have encountered fewer and fewer of these within a couple miles of my home. Some new home construction is to blame although not to the degree that you would think. They are an amazingly graceful sprinter and very fun to watch running through a cactus filled landscape. 1. Quite a small range it has. Love the shot, perfect pose and fantastic light! Posted 6 years ago
    1. The range is interesting... I have seen these roam in small areas just outside of housing developments prior to them being relocated due to construction. Once they do move on they don't travel far to find a new territory. Posted 6 years ago
  2. Great shot of an awesome creature! I had no idea they were so big! Posted 6 years ago
    1. Thanks. The other shot of them in JD I took a few years back. It is a cottontail and jack back to back for size comparison. Quite a unique opportunity I had to take the first shot.

Time Out Sorry for the poor image quality. I had a split second to take this shot, I had hand shake, in manual mode so setting were wrong, and it was poor light. This is a real picture of a common Cottontail backing to a Antelope Jackrabbit. They normally do not co-exist so I don't know what was going on here but it was a sight!!
