  2. Great lizard! That's a Plica sp. rather than Enyalioides sp.

I'm guessing it's Plica medemi, but I don't know too much about the difference between that species and other Plica species. There's some info at https://zookeys.pensoft.net/article/3574/element/2/19/

    1. Thanks, that steers me in the right direction. Medemi does look close, the only other candidate in the genus that I found visually very similar is umbra:
      https://mikeleftagain.wordpress.com/2011/03/19/more-stuffs/plica-umbra-1/

      and the subspecies umbra ochrocollaris:

      Thoughts?

      1. Ha, some of those iNaturalist photos are mine. I've seen a number of Plica umbra ochrocollaris in Peru.

Reading further on Plica medemi, that species was only described in 2013 and at the time was known from only a single specimen, from right in the center of Colombia. Plica umbra is known to be widespread, across multiple countries. So yours is probably Plica umbra. I haven't been able to track down where the subspecies bounds are between Plica umbra umbra and Plica umbra ochrocollaris.
