Dragonfly, chocks away!
With her aviator goggles on - a moment captured, right before take off.
Australian Emerald dragonflies are flighty little characters and more often than not will escape long before I get anywhere close enough to capture a shot.
But luck was on my side and I managed to do just that recently.
Female body length 50 mm

"The Australian Emerald (Hemicordulia australiae), also known as the Sentry Dragonfly, is a widespread species that is found mainly in Australia and New Zealand. These dragonflies are incredibly fast, strong, and inquisitive insects. They rarely rest and spend most of their time flying in the air, which makes getting a shot of them incredibly difficult. One of their particularly striking features is their brilliant, green eyes, which shine beautifully in the sunlight. Ruth Spigelman has definitely done an incredible job of capturing the Australian Emerald's dazzling eyes! {Spotted in NSW, Australia by JungleDragon user, Ruth Spigelman} #JungleDragon" Posted 4 years ago
