
Late Oysters - Sarcomyxa serotina
These mushrooms had brownish yellow caps with yellow gills. The caps ranged in size from about 1-2 cm wide, and they were somewhat cupcake-shaped. The gills were attached and were descending the stems.
Habitat: Growing on yellow birch (Betula alleghaniensis) logs in a deciduous forest.

"Sarcomyxa serotina", commonly known as the late oyster, is a species of fungus in the family Mycenaceae. Fruit bodies grow as overlapping fan- or oyster-shaped caps on the wood of both coniferous and deciduous trees.
