  1. Fantastic! Hope you can get an ID! Posted 6 years ago
    1. I'm not holding my breath on this one. I'm a bit disappointed in the many FB specialist groups I joined. All I get is likes, and no actual help. Perhaps my expectation is wrong :) Posted 6 years ago
      1. Eh, bummer. I have found that as well - very little "expert" help, with the exception of the mushroom ID forums. If you're lucky enough to get a comment for this one, it will be something like: "It's a butterfly". Posted 6 years ago
        1. Exactly! Yesterday I posted "Lynx spider....blah blah. Anybody know the ID?"
          Response: "I think it's a lynx spider".

Or just throwing a random species without any underpinning.

I think the reality is that for difficult categories, the true experts are dusty scientists who hardly know how to use a computer. I'm of course excessively stereotyping, but still.

          1. Agreeeed! It's hard not to just reply to those well-meaning people, "Um, duh. I said that already." Posted 6 years ago
    2. Update: I think I got the species:

      1. Hmm, it looks close, but I'm not sure because the wing pattern and face look a bit off. Posted 6 years ago
        1. Oh wait - it looks like you decided on another ID after all :). Posted 6 years ago
          1. Yes forgot to comment on yet another update, sorry :)
The key was in the roundness of the snout. Never figured that to be a key for butterflies.
