Female Amethyst Woodstar Hummingbirds are hard to photograph and I am still learning, but I saw this one in dark forest and frankly I wasn't expecting much, but I tried anyway and I think it came out fairly well, given the circumstances. This was in the forested part of Serra da Canastra national park in South-east Brazil. 1. Hi Ferdy, welcome back from Colombia! South-east Brazil is amazing. Obviously, the more well-known places that we did on our first trip are spectacular (Amazon, Pantanal, Igaucu), but this time we went to the Atlantic Coastal Forest and the National Park, Serra da Canastra to see the Brazilian savannah (Cerrado) and both were brilliant. Although they both are great for birds and smaller creatures, they hold some big game as well: Giant Anteaters, Lowland Tapirs, Maned Wolves (didn't get to see this one) and it is much more off the beaten path, tourism-wise. Definitely worth a trip. Posted 6 years ago
