Female Amethyst Woodstar
Hummingbirds are hard to photograph and I am still learning, but I saw this one in dark forest and frankly I wasn't expecting much, but I tried anyway and I think it came out fairly well, given the circumstances. This was in the forested part of Serra da Canastra national park in South-east Brazil.
The amethyst woodstar is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in most of central, and eastern South America proper, in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname-, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.
