Lichenomphalia umbellifera, one of the mushroom lichens One of the few Basidiomycota to function as a lichen; a symbiotic union of green algae and a fungus. The thallus is the green scum on the log. The mushroom-producing fungus apparently gets all its carbohydrate from the algae. A closeup of this thallus is in the next photo. 1. Great photos and information! Posted 6 years ago
  2. Lovely mushrooms!! Just curious - what's the reason for the split screen? The two images look identical, so I wasn't sure if I was missing something... Posted 6 years ago
  3. This is a stereo pair. When looking at expanded photo, relax your eyes until there are three images. The middle one should "click" (in your mind) into the 3D view. Posted 6 years ago
    1. I've never been able to see stereo imagery, unfortunately. :( Drives me crazy! Posted 6 years ago
    2. Cool! I wish I could see it, but unfortunately, I can't process stereo images either! I trust this is awesome though <3. Posted 6 years ago
  4. It worked for me! Although the lichens are popping outward 3-dimensionally and the fruiting bodies dropping away, reversed, into the woody background. Hm. Posted 6 years ago
  5. Erin - you are using the technique for R/L pairs; that reverses things, often in unpredictable ways. To view L/R pairs relax your eyes (go pie-eyed); the two images, left side and right side will drift apart; when they drift far enough apart to leave an equal-sized image in the middle, that should be the stereo view.
