Lichenomphalia umbellifera, one of the mushroom lichens
One of the few Basidiomycota to function as a lichen; a symbiotic union of green algae and a fungus. The thallus is the green scum on the log. The mushroom-producing fungus apparently gets all its carbohydrate from the algae. A closeup of this thallus is in the next photo.
