    1. Yes Christine, I was in a part of the garden I keep wilder than the rest....these snakes love to be out in open grassy areas in the sunshine. I had no idea it was just a few feet from me until it moved and gave itself away, I turned to see this little head and beautiful big eye staring right at me. The head and front few inches raised off the ground. I stayed very still, then slowly raised the camera - and that was enough to set it fleeing. I then followed it at a respectful distance observing and trying to get at least a couple of shots. Its body movements were so beautiful, so graceful. But so fast! Not only looks like a whip, but I fancy I heard the 'crack' as it sped off! Posted 6 years ago

The yellow-faced whip snake is a species of venomous snake in the family Elapidae, a family containing many dangerous snakes. "D. psammophis" is endemic to Australia, found throughout the continent in a variety of habitats from coastal fringes to interior arid scrubland.
