
The Green Garden Looper is a moth of the family Noctuidae. Mostly cosmopolitan distribution, it is a serious pest found throughout Wadelai, Aden, Japan, China, throughout the Indian, Sri Lanka, Malayan, and Australasian regions. It is present in Hawaii and recorded as an incursion in mainland North America and Russia.

This looks really similar to the Soybean Looper moth, but I'm not sure if it is within your distribution! Perhaps it is something similar?

I found that this it could possibly be Chrysodeixis eriosoma - Tomato Green Looper documented in Fiji and in Fiji, its called Green Semi-Looper. Looks like the caterpillars are considered a pest :(

Yes, a lot of loopers are considered pests, but I don't necessarily see them that way. :) I blame humans for wanting "perfect" monocultures! It is like putting a feast in front of insects and expecting them not to enjoy themselves. Posted 6 years ago
