CAP BROWNISH, FIBROUS
Cap: 5-10 cm wide; convex, later flat with knob; light brown; densely fibrous, scaly; hairy; cap edge hung with veil remnants when young and splitting with age

GILLS PALE, THEN BECOMING MOTTLED DARK BROWN
Gills: attached; crowded; yellowish becoming brown; edges sometimes with beads of water on edges

STALK SCALY, HAIRY
Stalk: 5-12 cm long, 3-15 mm thick; often fibrous and hairy below ring zone; hollow, equal or with swollen base
