
Mycena epipterygia
Habitat: Growing gregariously (and in large numbers) at the base of pine trees in a primarily coniferous forest in Northeast Alabama (Cherokee County), US.
Gill surface: pale yellow to cream (some with reddish spots), attached
Stipe: Long, pale yellow (with hints of green) with reddening towards base. Slightly slimy.
Pileus: Viscid, yellow to pale-yellowish brown (depending on the lighting, more vivid yellow in the light of my headlamp), convex to parabolic with striate edges
Spore print: white
Odor: Distinctly farinaceous. Exactly like cucumber.

''Mycena epipterygia'' is a species of fungi in the Mycenaceae family of mushrooms commonly found in Europe. The species is saprotrophic and its appearance is quite variable. Some parts of the fungus are bioluminescent.
