  1. Awesome!
Christine and I have started learning more about galls, so I know she will be excited to see all of these posts too! <3 Have you ever let galls hatch?

    1. Hi Lisa, I've put galls in boxes/jars quite a few times in my "early days" but never with great results. Maybe I was too stupid and took galls that were already empty, or by removing them from the plant I killed the moisture supply or whatever, but I did not get many interesting critters from it. A dear friend from Germany tried with a rose gall once and had a gazillion critters ... inquilines, parasitoids, hyperparasites - you name it. Your millage may vary :o) Posted 6 years ago

''Biorhiza pallida'' is a gall wasp species in the family Cynipidae. This species is a member of the tribe Cynipini: the oak gall wasp tribe. Cynipini is the tribe partially responsible for the formation of galls known as oak apples on oak trees. These are formed after the wasp lays eggs inside the leaf buds and the plant tissues swell as the larvae of the gall wasp develop inside.
