Akanthomyces aranearum on Unknown Moth  I found four moths under the bark of a fallen, rotting tree. They were all dead and had this white fungus projecting out of their bodies. It was pretty cool!  <br />

I found four moths under the bark of a fallen, rotting tree. They were all dead and had this white fungus projecting out of their bodies. It was pretty cool!

    1. Thanks! The galleries were the perfect background. I should have lifted the moth out of curiosity to see if the galleries or the moth were there first. I'm guessing the galleries. I'll be returning to this spot at some point to see how the fungus continues to grow. Posted 6 years ago
