Blusher Mushroom - Amanita rubescens group Orange brown cap with yellow patches. The gills were white and close/crowded. The stem was white/pinkish with a skirt-like ring and enlarged base. The margin of the cap was slightly striate. It was around 12 cm tall. <br />

Habitat: Growing on the ground in a mixed forest, but in an area that was primarily oak.<br />

The Blusher is the common name for several closely related species of the genus Amanita. A. rubescens, found in Europe and eastern North America, and A. novinupta in western North America. Both their scientific and common names are derived from the propensity of their flesh to turn pink on bruising, or cutting.
