    1. The first one I've ever found! It was stinky, so I didn't consider taking it home for dinner. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to stink or if this one was "past its prime"? Posted 6 years ago
      1. Eh, good call. I wouldn't have eaten a stinky mushroom either. I have never noticed an odor with them, but have heard some people say that they smell like fish. Posted 6 years ago

The Lobster mushroom, ''Hypomyces lactifluorum'', contrary to its common name, is not a mushroom, but rather a parasitic ascomycete fungus that grows on certain species of mushrooms, turning them a reddish orange color that resembles the outer shell of a cooked lobster.
