  1. Those are lovely - Stropharia is a good guess, but I'm thinking it's likely the are another species, maybe a different genus. I'll see if I can come up with something more specific :)

    update - I thought I'd seen these before - I'm thinking Cystoderma amianthinum - http://www.alpental.com/psms/PNWMushrooms/PictorialKey/Lepiota/Cystoderma%20amianthinum%20%252%20Steve%20Trudell.htm
There are two similars - but one has a reddish cap and the other has a persistent ring on the stem.

    1. Hey morphene, you are more than likely correct at them being a different species or genus. There are just so many gilled mushrooms around here. I have taken many photos of mushrooms in our backyard but identifying them is just too overwhelming for me so I have not posted the photos. Even the ID photo key on the PNW mushroom site is, to me, daunting. Thanks for any help you can provide. Gary Posted 6 years ago
      1. No need to be shy about leaving your posting your photos and leaving some unidentified. I have tons that I can only guess at or not even guess at :} - I'm even working on a list of all of the ones I have that are not ID'd - and if the rest of us can see them, you might even get some ID's :)

When I started posting mushrooms here I was a complete fungi newbie - now a couple years later and 100's of photos - 1000's of observations I'm starting to learn a bit - and also learn just how much I don't know :) - It's all good.

        1. Thanks again. Some good points. I guess my approach is, capture a good image and then worry about the ID. Maybe I’ll get a little “braver” about posting the “unknowns”! Looking at the PNW mushroom site the photo could be of Cystodermella granulosa. Another guess. Gary Posted 6 years ago

"Stropharia ambigua", sometimes known as the questionable Stropharia, is a saprotrophic basidiomycete fungus, one of many in the genus "Stropharia".
