Brazilian Bush Anole close-up

Tis one was sitting in the middle of the road as we drove up and happily just stayed there for pictures. The local guide identified it for us as this, so I am pretty sure about the identification - unless our Herp expert wants to differ.

I like it when they are so obliging. Definitely a Polychrus acutirostris. It seems unusual to find this arboreal species in the road. Posted 6 years ago

    I've seen a good number of chameleons do that crazy walk across roads in Madagascar, so I guess maybe it's not so unusual for this kind of slow-moving arboreal lizard to walk across a road. Posted 6 years ago

  The even stranger thing about this arboreal species is that this wasn't a road in the middle of a forest, rather a road in a savanna (Brazilian Cerrado) with almost no trees! Posted 6 years ago
