Lactifluus hygrophoroides?
Growing in deep leaf litter at the base of a ridge (below oaks and hickories) in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest. Gordon County, GA, US. October 17, 2018.
The closest I'm getting is Lactifluus hygrophoroides, but I'm not entirely sure...Any help you guys can provide would be most appreciated!
Flavor/odor: Mild, faintly sweet. Pleasant.
Latex: White (not changing on air contact). Stains gills lavender (and eventually burgundy/dark rust) after a while.
KOH on cap surface: pale mint green

"Lactifluus hygrophoroides" is a member of the milk-cap genus "Lactifluus" in the order Russulales. It was first described scientifically by Miles Joseph Berkeley and Moses Ashley Curtis in 1859 as a species of "Lactarius", and was historically known by this name until the systematics of milk-cap species were recently revised.
