Violet Bitter Bolete - Tylopilus violatinctus

Convex, purple, suede-like cap. Pores were white. The stipe was purplish brown with white, basal mycelium. The pores did not bruise.

Habitat: Growing in a disturbed, mostly deciduous forest.

    1. Yep, this is my second spotting - but, the first were just babies:
      Violet Bitter Bolete Small boletes with violet caps that turn pink and then tan as they age. Flesh and pores are white, but bruise violet. Geotagged,Summer,Tylopilus violatinctus,United States,Violet Bitter Bolete,bolete,fungus,mushroom

Tylopilus violatinctus, the Violet Bitter Bolete, is a bolete fungus in the Tylopilus genus. Appearance:
Bitter white cap flesh. Violet cap ages through pink to tan, bruising violet. Pinkish, yellow-staining stem browns w/age, apex staying white.
