
Boletus subfraternus? Or one of the other lookalikes?
TENTATIVE ID. Growing in a grassy area at the edge of a pine/hardwood-forested area. Floyd County, GA. October 8, 2018.
Pink-capped bolete with yellow pore surface. Pores stain blue immediately. White flesh stains blue immediately when cut. Flavor is faintly bitter. Stretched/slotted pores near stipe/pore surface connection.
Chemical analysis:
Iron salts--Negative.
KOH--Peach on cap. Brownish orange on flesh. Amber on pores.
Ammonia--Lavender resolving to yellow on cap.
