Rhinomuraena quaesita-juvenile
Batu Lubang Kecil, Lembeh. This is the same juvenile ribbon eel as in the previous posting but here it is with our pointer next to it so you can notice how small it is. Each big division is 1 inch and the smaller are mm and cm so see that its head may be like 2 in. in length. Also I think it was attacked because it had a gash in its neck. It may have been a bite by another fish to which it escaped by quickly retrieving in its burrow.

The ribbon eel (Rhinomuraena quaesita) or Bernis eel, is a species of moray eel, the only member of the genus Rhinomuraena. The ribbon eel is found in lagoons and reefs in the Indo-Pacific ocean, ranging from East Africa to southern Japan, Australia and French Polynesia.
