Found in a dried out forest at the peak of summer, the hottest we've seen in 3 centuries. One of the most common dragonflies in the Netherlands, named the "Blood red Hay Dragonfly". As there are a few red dragonflies in the Netherlands, one identification characteristic is the all-black legs. When females disperse eggs into the water, the male guards her, in-flight, against approaching competing males.
