  1. These turtles are everywhere - one of the world's most invasive species! Posted 6 years ago
    1. Can't believe sales aren't outlawed yet. You can still buy them everywhere here. Those on display are the minority that survived the trip, and half of those are already very sick (you can tell by slightly squeezing their shield, if its weak, its unhealthy). Plus they are the most boring pet ever.

Sorry to ruin your post, @Albert. Glad you got a free one.

    2. @Christine: yes, indeed :-D
@Ferdy, yes, well that is the sad part but I am happy for the ones living in the ponds near my home. I am not sure of their impact in the native wildlife but at least they are not snapping turtles-> those eat baby ducks and everything of that size> Anyway, again, human's fault :-/

The red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta elegans), also known as the red-eared terrapin, red-eared slider turtle, red-eared turtle, slider turtle, and water slider turtle, is a semiaquatic turtle belonging to the family Emydidae. It is a subspecies of the pond slider. It is the most popular pet turtle in the United States and is also popular as a pet across the rest of the world, and is the most invasive turtle.
