  1. Takin,the national animal of Bhutan,has a mythological background also. It is said the animal is a mixture of a Goat and a Cow,took place in mythological period. Hence the animal resembles to both these animals. It is taken care of at the national zoo in Thimphu,the capital of Bhutan. Looks vary calm and lives in herds in the national park. The takin, also called cattle chamois or gnu goat, is a goat-antelope found in the Eastern Himalayas. Mitochondrial research shows that takin are related to sheep, its similarity to the muskox being an example of convergent evolution. The takin is the national animal of Bhutan.
