Eastern American Blusher - Amanita amerirubescens
This is by far one of the most common mushrooms that I find from CT, NY, MA, and ME! They seem to grow everywhere!
Tan cap with remnants of volva present as warts. Cream colored gills. Stem had a reddish pink hue, a skirt-like ring, and ended with a slightly enlarged base. These mushrooms were 8-10 cm tall.
Habitat: Mixed forest

Cap: Grows up to 120 mm wide. Color varies from pale yellowish-tan or pale tannish-yellow at first, but eventually turn brown or umbrinous. Wounds are reddish-brown. The cap is tacky and broadly conic at first, then finally planar in maturity. Remnants of volva are present as warts, which are subpyramidal and easily removed.
