A Cloud Bush Frog (Philautus nephophilus) on a leaf at night

Around the Kinabalu Park headquarters on Mt. Kinabalu, I saw a number of different small Philautus frogs. It took me quite a while to sort out which species they all were, and I might have gotten some of them wrong. But as best as I could tell, this one is Philautus nephophilus, a recently described species.

  Yes, I only saw these little frogs at night. There were a small number of other types of frogs visible during the day, but most frogs came out only at night (as is typical with rainforest frogs). Posted 7 years ago, modified 7 years ago

The Cloud Bush Frog

Philautus nephophilus is a small frog known from the highlands of Mt. Kinabalu. It was only described in 2016; formerly it was confused with the similar species Philautus mjobergi.
