Woodland Lettuce (Lactuca floridana)
I'm thinking Lactuca floridana?
On dirt roadsides near the edge of a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest. Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US. August 26, 2018.
There are no pappi present at this moment, but if my memory serves me right (from last summer), they were bright white. I will be keeping an eye on these. Will change to L. biennis if I see otherwise!

''Lactuca floridana'', the woodland lettuce, is a North American species of wild lettuce. It is widespread across much of central Canada and the eastern and central United States from Ontario and Manitoba south as far as Texas, Louisiana, and Florida.
