Cross Orbweaver (Araneus diadematus) I am not sure what is for the spider's dinner but this photo makes me feel really sad. I think it is because the leg is hanging out in desperation to get free :( The joys of nature!! Araneus diadematus,Garden Spider,Geotagged,Spider,United Kingdom Click/tap to enlarge

  2. Nature can be cruel, and insects are the crulest of crulest. I'm glad they're so small. Posted 12 years ago
  3. Looking closely at nature opens up a whole new world, such beauty in nature, even with the less pretty species Posted 12 years ago

The spider species "Araneus diadematus" is commonly called the European garden spider, diadem spider, orangie, cross spider and crowned orb weaver. It is sometimes called the pumpkin spider, although this name is also used for a different species, "Araneus marmoreus". It is an orb-weaver spider found in Europe and North America.
