  1. Hi Deb, or is it Deb Della? Let's go for Deb. Wow great contrast and what a beautiful palette of colours on the butterfly and flower. What makes it special I think, besides the colours, are the hanging petals. Very striking. A bit less beautiful is the vase in the background and maybe the lens flare, but hey it is striking nonetheless! Posted 12 years ago
  2. It's Deb. Della Piana is the whole last name. Thanks for the comment on the photo. I was at Mt. Auburn Cemetary and thought I was just about done shooting. I was sitting there minding my own business and this thing landed right near me. I didn't think I had much time, so I basically ran over there and shot rapid fire. This was the best of them. Butterfly is very clear. The lens flare pissed me off but, hey, the world is not perfect I guess! Posted 12 years ago
    1. With lens flares you should always say this was your artistic intention :)

Just kidding, indeed a colorful photo, both the plant and butterfly look awesome.

The monarch butterfly or simply monarch is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Other common names depending on region include milkweed, common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown. It may be the most familiar North American butterfly, and is considered an iconic pollinator species.
