Parrot Toadstool - Gliophorus psittacinus Conical caps that were very slimy and were green in the centers and whitish around the margins. Gills were white with frequent short gills. The stipe was pale green near the apex and yellowish on the bottom part.<br />

Habitat:  I spotted a small cluster of these growing on the ground in a coniferous forest.<br />

    1. I'm guessing the usually deep green/yellow color of the cap. This is a rather light shade of green for this species! Posted 7 years ago
      1. I was curious and looked it up - Lisa is correct...It's named "parrot" because it can often be a deep "parrot" green color. I have found a bunch of these mushrooms lately, and the colors have varied from orange to yellow, pale green, and dark green. But, they are ALWAYS super slimy! Posted 7 years ago

      1. Just now finding out that these are likely G. perplexus. G. psittacinus is West Coast only (at least that is what Alan Rockefeller told me)! Posted 5 years ago
