
Sweetpotato Armyworm Moth (Spodoptera dolichos)
At porch lights near an overgrown backyard habitat.
This moth is very similar to The Yellow-Striped Armyworm Moth (Spodoptera ornithogalli), however, it can be differentiated by a leaf-shaped spot above the reniform spot on the forewing. See this image on BugGuide for a better look:

''Spodoptera dolichos'' is a moth of the Noctuidae family found from the southern United States , south through Costa Rica to South America, as far south as Argentina. In the United States, it may occur as far north as Kentucky and Maryland.
The wingspan is about 40 mm.
The larvae are polyphagous and feed on a wide range of wild and cultivated plants
