Wood Frog - Lithobates sylvaticus Adult wood frogs are brown or tan and have a dark eye mask. Individual frogs are capable of varying their color. This frog had a lot of speckles and splotches on its skin., which was quite different from the wood frog that I spotted on this same day - maybe 15 feet from this one. This frog was approximately 2 cm long.<br />

 Habitat: Spotted in a wet, mixed forest.<br />

The wood frog has a broad distribution over North America, extending from the Boreal forest of Canada and Alaska to the southern Appalachians, with several notable disjunct populations including lowland eastern North Carolina.
