White-Spotted Prominent (Nadata gibbosa) In a disturbed area at the edge of a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest in NW Georgia (Gordon County), US.<br /> <br /> This individual was not at all happy to be photographed (I tried to move it for a better shot) and began defensively lashing at me!<br /> <br /> Also of note, one could observe hemolymph (the purple) being pumped through the body! The Rough prominent

The rough prominent is a moth of the family Notodontidae, possibly in the subfamily Notodontidae. It is also known as the white-dotted prominent and the tawny prominent. This common moth is found across North America from the northern boreal forests to as far south as Florida.
