Diactor bilineatus is a leaf-footed bug in the order Hemiptera, suborder Heteroptera, infraorder Pentatomomorpha, superfamily Coreoidea, family Coreidae, subfamily Coreinae and tribe Anisoscelini.

Adults can reach up to 20mm in length. They possess a very remarkable and beautiful coloration. Like other bugs in the family Coreidae, they possess leaf-like dilations on the hind tibiae; these are colored dark with orange spots. Abdomen with shifting colors of orange and green segments. Ventral surface of the thorax colored green, orange and cyan or greenish-blue. Dorsal surface of the thorax colored green with two straight stripes going from and beyond the proximal end of the thorax with the wings until the tip of the head, passing by the side of the eye. They are able to see well enough to flee from danger by taking flight; eyes are compound but relatively small. They are harmless; the proboscis is only used to suck sap. Wings are black. Tip of the hind legs' femur is blueish colored, Other legs display varying tones of grey, green and orange (requires confirmation for the "orange"). Tip of hind legs colored yellow/orange. Antennae are long, dark, with a light, blueish base.

Eggs are laid in the interior surface of the leaves of the host plant. They lay up to 10 eggs at a time and their incubation takes 15 days. They feed exclusively on Passiflora sp. to my knowledge. The young feed on the sap of the flower buds and young fruits, but the adults can also feed on the leaves, branches and mature fruits. They are one of the most beautiful bugs in existence.

The nymphs will have their own post.

Normally found in fields and crop fields that contain Passiflora sp.. Can often be found in suburban environments, where this one was photographed, if the inhabitants grow Passiflora sp..
