    1. No I wasn't scared. I was shooting from my truck and the cub wanted to cross. I was a bit nervous when he did start crossing, because by then I was out of the truck and I couldn't see where he went, since there was a ditch and then all of a sudden he came out right in front of me. I see about 8 to 10 bears each time I go to the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Posted 12 years ago

The American black bear is a medium-sized bear native to North America. It is the continent's smallest and most common bear species. Black bears are omnivores with their diets varying greatly depending on season and location. They typically live in largely forested areas, but do leave forests in search of food.
