Fire Rug Inkcap (Coprinellus domesticus/Coprinellus radians)
Small tan mushroom with a shaggy, orange to gold fungal ozonium (mycelial mat) growing on a hardwood log. Coprinellus domesticus and Coprinellus radians both lay down bright orange to rust colored mycelial mats called ozonium. Fruiting bodies are capable of erupting from this mycelial mat. Species level identification requires microscopy (looking at spore length), but I will be leaving it at C. domesticus at this point.

"Coprinellus domesticus", commonly known as the firerug inkcap, is a species of mushroom in the family Psathyrellaceae. First described as "Agaricus domesticus" by James Bolton in 1788, it was later known as "Coprinus domesticus" before it was transferred to the genus "Coprinellus" in 2001.
