  1. A gift that keeps on giving! Are you still running the lights? Posted 7 years ago
    1. Yes, I am. Just for a couple hours each night. I'm a night owl, so I just check my deck before I go to bed. It's not the best ambience, but there are always things out there! It's interesting to see what comes each night and how the species shift and change over time. I also attracted bats one night and a deer, lol. Plus, Bob, the house sparrow, still comes each night. I'm accumulating quite a backlog of nighttime critters to ID! Posted 7 years ago
      1. That sounds like music to my ears! Posted 7 years ago
        1. I have about a 6-week backlog of photos from night-light mothing to hikes, etc., which translates into 25 different folders of partly identified pictures :). I hike several times a week and moth nearly every night! Posted 7 years ago
          1. It's about time for your kids to take some more responsibilities. Let them sort out the archive and IDs whilst mum goes on hikes. Make it appear a fun task. Pokemon for nature. Collect them all.
(don't ever take parental advise from me)

I kind of have the opposite problem right now, my archive is very thin. So I'm sharing very slowly whilst only very occasionally doing a hike, trying to make it to the next Colombia trip :)

            1. Haha, I'm sure they would do a super job identifying things. *total sarcasm*

When I take them hiking, I do sometimes have them help me find things....like a nature scavenger hunt. They are always on mushroom alert!
