Red Fox Track - Vulpes vulpes This is a print from a red fox. It was approximately 6 cm long and 5 cm wide. The trotting stride was around 40-45 cm. The fore heel pad had a bar across it. I spotted this track in a muddy spot of a river in a deciduous forest. 2. Are you able to estimate the age of the print?
Note that I don't have that skill myself, was just curious, and sometimes see local guides calculating.

    1. I'm not sure, but it looked really fresh. Posted 7 years ago
      1. It does look fresh to me too. The only technique I'm aware of to determine it is to look at the debris level in the print. The more, the older. And this one seems to have almost none at all. In fact, I think it was standing behind you. Posted 7 years ago
        1. Good point about the debris...I wish it had been behind me ;) Posted 7 years ago
