Anhinga trapped by plastic This Anhinga (also called "Darter", "Snakebird" or "Water turkey") is trapped by plastic human waste. A very real and direct showcase of the damage our behavior can do to nature. This bird does not allow well-intended humans near him to remove it. Luckily, at one point this bird will be so weak and stop resisting, allowing itself to be freed again. The Anhinga, sometimes called Snakebird, Darter, American Darter, or Water Turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word "anhinga" comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.
