European Rowan, Heeswijk-Dinther, Netherlands

  1. I've heard that these are edible if processed properly and can be made into jams and wines. There is an American Mountain Ash (Sorbus americana) as well! Posted 7 years ago, modified 7 years ago
    1. I read the same thing on the dutch Wikipedia page, it's described as a bitter jam. I personally love bitter, I drink black coffee and eat pure dark chocolate. And there's beer of course, also bitter :)

      Quite interesting as these are abundant here. Unfortunately, new time-sucking hobbies are the last thing I need right now lol.

''Sorbus aucuparia'', is a species of the genus Sorbus, native to most of Europe except for the far south, and northern Asia. In the south of its range in the Mediterranean region it is confined to high altitudes in mountains. It is the most widely available mountain-ash species in the United States.
