Garden Grass-veneer in habitat, Heesch, Netherlands Very close to my home is a field of Calluna vulgaris that turns into a purple sea during the right time of year, example from 6 years ago:<br />

I regularly cross this field and with each step, it disturbs a few grass moths like these. I then watch where they flee to and if its in a good position, I go for the slow approach. Same individual:<br />

The Garden Grass-veneer is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. It is found in Europe. The wingspan is 18-24 mm. The moth flies from June to July depending on the location. The larvae feed on various grasses.
