  1. How tiny! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Yes! The previous photos of this species don't really give any idea of its actual size, do they?

This individual was actually on the ceiling of my front porch. I've been experiencing some fatigue and pain lately, so straining awkwardly for photos did not seem like a good idea this morning. I decided to attempt to handle it instead! It was a risk (sometimes they just fly away), but it worked out in the end!

Moth Week 2018 has given me much more confidence in handling moths. For years, I had always been terrified of damaging their scales and impeding flight--so I have avoided handling them for the most part. Luckily, I have started to get my technique down!

      1. That is good to hear! As well as bad to hear about your pain, hope you're OK. Posted 7 years ago
        1. No worries. I have ongoing chronic pain that is just part of my daily life. Some days are rough and some are fantastic! I'm just lucky to have distractions from it when it does flare up (including my good friends here and the great big outdoors)! Posted 7 years ago
