Agreeable Tiger Moth - Spilosoma congrua
Total length: 20 mm. Forewings and abdomen were completely white with no spots. Coxa and femur of forelegs were orange.
Attracted to my moth light in a rural area. It rested on my glass door and entertained (or taunted?) my cats, who alternated between swatting at and chattering at this gorgeous moth.

The agreeable tiger moth is one of three species of white tiger moth which are common in the United States. It has pronounced black eyes, white abdomen, and orange "bib" which set it apart from its cousin the Virginia tiger moth. Like its cousin, it tents its wings when as at rest.

I will insist on my pun, as the previous one was missed. Posted 7 years ago
